Step 3: Understanding Websites
Once again understanding the technical side of a website is not critical but take note of the terms just incase your webdevelopment company tries to confuse you. |
Introduction
You should be cautious when a development company tries to shower you with too much technical jargon. This usually means they are trying to confuse and impress you at the same time while trying to sell you a product at a higher price.
Component
A website is usually built out of most of the following standard components:
I. HTML (Hyper Text Mark-up language):
HTML refers to the programming language used to create webpage’s you see on the internet. HTML is a basic language and is mostly limited in capability although faster than most other languages.
II. Pictures & Text:
An obvious component. Without pictures and text your website will be completely empty…
III. ASP(X) (Active Server Pages), PHP, ( Hypertext Preprocessor), AJAX and JAVA:
All of the above are a more advanced forms of HTML so to speak. Capable of a lot more functionality but it can also reduce the speed or user-friendliness of your web site.
IV. Databases
Databases are used to store information and organize it in such a way that your website can access it quickly and display it in an understandable format.
V. Flash Animation
Flash is an interactive form of coding website that combines pictures, text and animation to create highly interactive, though sometimes slower websites.
Conclusion
There are many other components that can be used to build a website. The ones mentioned above are used in most cases. Once again, do not be fooled by these technical jargons, make sure that the components proposed fit your purpose. The more difficult it is to develop your website the higher the price will be naturally. Make sure the company you use is competent with the task at hand.
